What are Skin Peels at Eden Skin & Laser Clinic?

At Eden Skin & Laser Clinic, our chemical peels are clinical-grade treatments designed to accelerate the skin’s natural exfoliation process. By applying sophisticated acid solutions to the epidermis, we facilitate the removal of damaged surface cells, revealing a more refined and revitalised texture beneath. We utilise a curated selection of world-renowned formulations to ensure that every treatment is precisely calibrated to the patient's skin integrity and specific aesthetic goals.

The Eden Skin & Laser Clinic Portfolio

We offer a diverse range of chemical resurfacing options, each selected for its clinical pedigree and proven efficacy:

  • PCA Skin: Renowned for their innovative approach, PCA Skin peels are designed to address concerns such as acne and hyperpigmentation through highly controlled, progressive exfoliation.

  • AlumierMD: These medical-grade peels focus on "clean science," utilising versatile formulations that can be customised to manage redness, ageing, or blemish-prone skin.

  • SkinCeuticals: Built on a foundation of antioxidant science, SkinCeuticals peels are designed to improve skin clarity and diminish the appearance of fine lines and photodamage.

  • Image Skincare: Utilising an aloe-vera based delivery system, Image peels range from gentle enzyme treatments to more intensive chemical resurfacing for deep skin rejuvenation.

What Skin Peels Can Address

Chemical resurfacing is a versatile tool that may improve the appearance of:

  • Fine Lines and Wrinkles: Softening the visible signs of chronological ageing.

  • Hyperpigmentation: Fading the appearance of sunspots and uneven skin tone.

  • Acne and Congestion: Refining the skin surface and managing oil production.

  • Textural Irregularities: Smoothing rough patches for a more polished finish.

  • Dullness: Restoring a radiant, healthy-looking glow to the complexion.

How Skin Peels Work

The procedure involves the application of specific alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs), beta-hydroxy acids (BHAs), or trichloroacetic acid (TCA) to the skin. These agents work by breaking the intercellular bonds (desmosomes) that hold dead skin cells together.

By inducing a controlled form of "injury" to the upper layers of the skin, the treatment stimulates a healing response and encourages the production of new collagen and elastin. Depending on the depth of the peel—ranging from superficial to medium-depth—the skin will undergo a period of shedding, allowing fresher, healthier cells to rise to the surface.

  • When performed by a qualified clinical professional at Eden Skin & Laser Clinic, skin peels are a highly safe and controlled procedure. We conduct a thorough skin analysis to determine the appropriate peel depth for your skin type (Fitzpatrick scale) to minimise the risk of adverse reactions.

  • You may experience a warm, tingling, or itching sensation during the application of the peel. While some higher-strength peels may cause a more intense heat sensation, we use cooling techniques to ensure your comfort throughout the process.

  • Initial brightness is often visible once the immediate post-treatment redness subsides. However, the most significant refinements in texture and tone typically appear after the skin has completed its peeling cycle, usually within 7 to 14 days.

  • Downtime varies by peel intensity. Superficial peels may result in minor redness for 24 hours, while more advanced peels can lead to active flaking or peeling for 3 to 7 days. Your practitioner will advise you on what to expect based on your specific treatment.

  • Correct aftercare is vital to ensure optimal healing and results:

    • Sun Avoidance: You must avoid direct sun exposure and apply a broad-spectrum SPF 50 daily, as the skin will be highly photosensitive.

    • Do Not Pick: It is essential not to pull or pick at any peeling skin, as this can lead to scarring or hyperpigmentation.

    • Hydrate: Use only the recommended post-procedure moisturisers to support the skin barrier.

    • Avoid Actives: Discontinue the use of Retinols, Vitamin C, and exfoliating acids for 5–7 days post-treatment.

Practitioner & Safety Note

All treatments at Eden Skin & Laser Clinic are subject to a thorough face-to-face consultation. This allows our clinical team to assess your medical history, perform a patch test, and discuss the potential risks and realistic expectations of the procedure.
